Interview with our Speaker Oliver Zeigermann about his Talk "Machine Learning in the Browser with Deep Neural Networks" at JS Kongress 2016

Hi Oliver and thank you for your time and the chance to hear a bit more from you and your upcoming talk about Machine Learning in the Browser with Deep Neural Networks at the JS Kongress in Munich. Can you tell our audience a bit about yourself and your everyday work?

I typically work in projects using Java and/or JavaScript. Sometimes I consult and sometimes I develop.

Munich is known as one of the most beautiful cities in europe and with the Alte Kongresshalle we secured us a very unique venue, is it your first visit in Munich or do you travel extensively?

Munich is an especially pretty city, I travel to Munich frequently.

What encourages you to give talks at conferences, is there any special Reason why you applied for the call for papers at the JS Kongress?

I talk about neural networks and machine learning in the browser. My aim is to make machine learning more accessible to JavaScript people. I applied to JS-Kongress as it is community driven by nice people. I am it will have a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

JS Kongress is trying to go ahead of other conferences by switching the focus from Web and Mobile to Games, Hardware & Web. Do you believe there is a future of JavaScript outside of the Browser?

Even at present JavaScript is a big thing on the server side and in desktop apps. I am also convinced that JavaScript will become more important in handheld devices of all kinds.

Many JavaScript Projects are Open Source and “made with love” what is in your opinion the best Part about JavaScript, what do you enjoy the most about JavaScript?

JavaScript is a language for all levels of programmers. Beginners can easily get started with it, while experienced developers can also use it for really large stuff.

What will be the major benefit hearing your talk, what will the audience take home from your words?

You can learn basics about machine learning and how you can start experimenting with it in the browser.

Thank you very much for your time!

We’re looking forward to meet you soon in Munich!?
